2:30 p.m.
Visit of the gardens of the Chateau of la
Chatonniere in Azay-le-Rideau. In a small valley from which you
can see a wide view on the Indre river and Chinon forest, surrounding a small Renaissance
style château with six towers shutting in a central courtyard, eight different gardens
spread in terraces. Geometrical or wild, blue, salmon or white, fragrant and feminine,
along an initiatory path, they symbolize elegance, silence, plenty, senses, intelligence,
unlikeliness, exuberance and romance.
4:30 p.m.
Visit of the VILLAINES basketry cooperative, founded in 1849 in a calm and,
picturesque setting. The cooperative gathers nearly 100 basket makers, who grow and bark
their wicker, and use it for various creations. You will discover several exhibition rooms
with a large range of traditional items for bakeries, handling, shops arrangements,
furniture, and decoration. The "Vannerie de Villaines" brand and the know-how
label granted by the Loire-Anjou-Touraine natural regional park guarantee a local
production of quality. Video tape about the making of wicker baskets.
End of the day around 6:00 p.m.
