Meet with our guide at the Tourist office for a two hours GUIDED VISIT OF TOURS: A
sightseeing of the city in your coach and a walking discovery of the area known as
"Old Tours", now one of the city's prime sites.

Lunch in a Tours town centre restaurant.
2:30 p.m.
Visit of the "MUSEE DU COMPAGNONNAGE" in Tours. Unique in
the world. Located inside the reception room (XIth c.) and monks' dormitory (XVth c.) of
the former Saint Julien abbey. This museum tells the history, customs, and techniques of
these training associations which also defended the workers rights. You will discover a
great variety of crafts still existing or having disappeared, (locksmiths, confectioners,
carpenters, roofers, etc.), tools, all sorts of masterworks the "Compagnons" had
to create to deserve their title and honour "the fine work".
4 :00 p.m.
Arrival at LA LIVRE TOURNOIS-POIRAULT. In this famous Tours confectionery, the
oldest in the city (1807), you will see how old-fashioned barley sugar sticks, flavoured
with vanilla and elderberry blossom, are made, and you will taste some. You will also love
the other home made specialities: Tours style stuffed prunes and the muscadine. You will
crunch a "Livre Tournois", a chocolate copy of the coin used all over the Centre
West region for eight centuries, and which was stamped in Tours. Finally, you will taste
the " Nougat de Tours", a famous local cake.
