VITILOIRE, THE LOIRE VALLEY WINES FESTIVAL - 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT - MAY 29th and 30th 2010
Enjoy yourself in Tours, a cheerful, lively city, and spend a week-end of May at the Loire valley wines festival called "Vitiloire". You will discover the numerous and varied local wine producers, thanks to an original and friendly meeting through the city centre.You will visit 2 wine cellars located in the area of the Vouvray (white wine) wines and Chinon (red wine) wines. You will be able to taste an enjoy our wines from the Loire valley where they are really produced. The sightseeing of the château and gardens of Villandry : a jewel of our region called the "Garden of France" will complete nicely your trip.
SATURDAY 29th, MAY 2010
In the morning :
Arrival in Vouvray, in the middle of a region famous for its white wine from the 4th century, period of time when Saint Martin introduced the vine. Guided tour of the "Cave des producteurs de Vouvray" and tasting. Located in the heart of the Vouvray vineyards, this wine cellar groups together 50 wine producers attached to their land, traditions and quality. The wines are strictly selected and bottled, are aging inside the cellars, galleries dug into the rock which are more than 2 kilometres long. Deep inside those cellars, you will be told the secrets of the making of the sparkling and still wines. Then, you will enjoy the tasting of different wines, promises of future celebrations. Departure for Tours.

During the afternoon :
Meeting at the Tourist Office where you will be given a tasting glass. Departure for a walk to discover the different appellations of controlled origins. In the centre of the city and within a unique and propitious setting : the Boulevard Heurteloup, the train station, the garden of the "Préfecture", the town hall. You will take part in the festival and discover the richness of our area in a cheerful atmosphere and holding your glass, from stand to stand, you will taste as much wine as you wish. All along your afternoon, you will be able to see various activities….

SUNDAY 30th, MAY 2010
Breakfast
In the morning : Guided tour of a wine cellar in the area of the Chinon Vineyards. The winemaker will explain you the making, the aging of the wine inside oak barrels. After the sightseeing, you will taste Chinon wines : rosé wine with a tawny colour, or red with a fine ruby colour and a violet fragrance…
Lunch on your own.
Departure with your car to Villandry.
During the afternoon :
Visit the famous VILLANDRY GARDENS which surround like, a jewellery box, the last great Early French Renaissance château built on the banks of the Cher river (1536). You will walk through one of the most beautiful gardens in France distributed on three levels : the water garden, surrounded by a cloister made of linden trees , the ornamental garden, displaying its "love", "music" and herb gardens, the kitchen garden, over 12,500 m2, which reproduces the shape of an authentic multicoloured checkerboard divided in nine squares where vegetables and fruit trees are symmetrically planted.
